My Experience With Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation:
Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation comes in a cylindrical glass packaging with a pump system to dispense the product. It has a transparent cap to keep the pump clean and hygienic. The glass packaging affirms that you have to handle with care and just can't drop it accidently, however, the pump is nice and works extremely well. It dispenses the right amount of product and you can also customize it by adjusting the pressure you apply. The shade name is written on the front along with expiry details and everything on the side. Overall, the packaging is nice and thorough. I haven't traveled with the foundation and hence cannot comment on that.
The shade B5 is the best choice for NC 35-40. Thanks to the summer woes, I am tanned and thus this shade looks slightly lighter but nothing that I can't fix with bronzer or contouring. You can see in the FOTD itself that I have blended the color well and used slight bronzing to adjust the shade to me. It has an abundance of yellow undertones which really goes well with my skin tone and prevents from looking too ashy. It looks slightly bright when you mix with an illuminator. However, there are only a few shades, I guess around 4 or 5 shades available and very tough to choose.
The foundation gives a medium coverage but won't help much if you have heavy acne scars or pigmentation. There is pigmentation around my mouth which requires being concealed before applying this foundation. However, it does take good care of uneven skin tone. Even though it has SPF, it looks good and photographs well without white patches everywhere.
The foundation has a liquid cum air whipped consistency. It feels extremely lightweight and easy to apply. It gives a nice airbrushed look to the skin with enough hint of dewiness. However, the foundation is rich in texture and is suitable for normal to dry skin. This is why it looks a bit extra dewy on my oily skin. I am planning to wear this one for the winters as it will be of no use to me for summers. It doesn't clog the pores or make the skin uncomfortable. Also, I didn't experience any breakouts.
The finish is dewy on its own. To control it you have to apply a good oil control powder or compact on top. It blends really well on the skin and looks seamless. I generally use my fingers to do it all over and then blend with the RT sponge. It doesn't accentuate on wrinkles or fine lines but proper hydration is a basic rule for the foundation. Since it doesn't do much to minimize the pores, I would say use a primer to control it.
The foundation lacks the oil control and would be disastrous for oily skin in summers. It is enriched with SPF 24 without any whitish cast, which is surely a boon for us all. I have also noticed that the foundation doesn't oxidize on me and I completely love this. The foundation, when well set with powder, lasts for about 4-5 hours on me (indoors) but melts too quickly when I step out in this humid weather with oily skin. I guess, the longevity would be better in cooler days. For a drugstore foundation, it fares well on my skin.
