Before I could even spell the brand names of Maybelline, L'Oreal or Bobbi Brown, there was a brand named Lakme which was spotted in every home. Among all the products, Lakme eyeliner and red lipstick were quite famous. I am pretty sure this is the story of most of the girls grown up in 90's. After that, we all grew up and got introduced to the world of cosmetics where every brand is in competition with another to bring out the best in the market. So when this cute little bottle of eyeliner was sent as a part of my haul, I became all nostalgic to try that out. Moreover, I wanted to see how Lakme has changed from then to now. Let's see in detail about the liquid eyeliner.

My Experience With Lakme Insta-Liner Water Resistant Eyeliner:

There has not been much change in the packaging. The eyeliner comes in a little thick glass bottle with a sleek peach colored screw cap that has the thin applicator brush attached to it. The bottle is sturdy enough to survive one or two falls and convenient for traveling purposes as well. The applicator brush is thin, medium-sized and precise enough to draw thin lines over the lash line. In fact, among all the brush liners I have used till date I can easily conclude that Lakme does its best for the applicator brush.

The eyeliner is jet black in color with the right consistency – which is neither too thin nor thick. The pigmentation is surprisingly well and once you have drawn a line you do not need to go back and darken it at all. The liner dries off to give a matte black finish over the lid. So if you prefer shiny or glossy finish, you would be highly disappointed. I wouldn't call it a con as people have preferences of their own. Moreover, the dryness isn't major to make your skin flaky and therefore it fares well. I haven't noticed any kind of flakiness or chipping once the liner dries. Speaking of drying, it takes forever. This is one disadvantage that Lakme should have worked upon in all these years. You literally need to fan the liner to dry up and there is a high chance you would end up ruining your eye makeup.

Even though the liner claims to be water-resistant, it can easily be washed off with water. When I ran my swatched hand over the tap water it thoroughly washed off the color. As a result, water can completely ruin it. On the other hand, removing the liner is a cakewalk and comes off with water or any makeup remover with a single swipe. The staying power is around 4-5 hours without any splash of water or heavy rubbing of the eyes. Overall, this is a decent regular eyeliner that comes with a pocket-friendly price.

Pros Of Lakme Insta-Liner Water Resistant Eyeliner:
  • Travel-friendly sturdy bottle.
  • Jet black color with matte finish.
  • Right consistency.
  • Convenient applicator brush.
  • Doesn't chip or makes the skin dry.
  • Staying power is 4-5 hours.
  • Budget-friendly eyeliner.

Cons Of Lakme Insta-Liner Water Resistant Eyeliner:
  • Takes forever to dry.
  • Neither water-resistant not water-proof.
  • No ingredients list.

Diva Likes Rating:

3.5/5

Final Note:

If you are a beginner in makeup and in search of a good eyeliner for regular use, I would highly recommend this product. Except for the drying part, the liner fares pretty well for a regular use eyeliner. For professionals, there are better ones in the market.
