Hello my lovely readers! You guys have seen me blabbering a lot about my love for blue nails in most of my reviews. So I thought of making an exception today. When I was applying a fresh nail varnish on my nails this weekend, mom suddenly commented "Do you realize there are other colors of nail paints as well?" I had a good laugh about it and then decided to bring out my Fall Collection box. I saw this little bottle of burgundy lying under heap of nail colors. It's been long that I applied this color and moreover I haven't shared it here as well. So, read on to know my thoughts on this nail varnish.

My Experience With Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer Wine & Dine 005:

The nail varnish comes in a little bottle of glass that has a screw cap with the shade name and number embossed on top. The glass is transparent and enables you to easily locate the color. In my opinion, the shade belongs to the family of fall collection. It is a dark vampy burgundy color with golden micro-shimmers with brown undertones. No matter what your skin tone is, you are going to love this color if you would like to make a statement with your hands. The applicator brush looked slightly tapered to me as I have used number of color show nail varnish brushes. Nevertheless, it didn't streak and there was no problem of air bubbles. When I first applied the coat, it was absolutely sheer and it disappointed me. With the third coating, I found the color opaque giving my hands a neat look. The nail varnish is shiny metallic with a glossy texture which perfectly goes well with the color. The staying power of the nail color is 4-5 days, which is really commendable given the price you are paying for the nail polish.

I love gathering the knowledge on various dupes for every nail color I use. So here are my gatherings which might be helpful to you guys as well.
The dupes available for this shade are Diamond Cosmetics Cherry Tobacco from the fall 2009 Collection, Dior Minuit, China Glaze Midtown Magic, Picture Polish Voodoo, Chanel MALICE Le Vernis Nail Polish and Confetti Masquerade Ball.

Pros Of Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer Wine & Dine 005:

  • A beautiful vampy red shimmery burgundy with brown undertones.
  • Perfect color for the upcoming fall season that would suit every skin tone.
  • Streak-free applicator.
  • Commendable staying power of the varnish.

Cons Of Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer Wine & Dine 005:
  • Poor pigmentation. It requires minimum 3 coats.

Diva Likes Rating:

4.5/5

Final Note:

I deducted the rating only because of its single con. But undoubtedly, I am going to wear this color a lot. It is totally apt for dinner dates and night outs. I have to admit that it goes well with my skin tones. Though it is a bold color, it doesn't look loud yet draws a lot of attention to the nails. When I was searching some of its dupes, I was actually scared to see the prices of OPI, Chanel etc. So, when you are getting this nail color at such a price tag, you would not want to miss it.
