I reviewed the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Neon Nail Color Blueberry Burst a few days back and I was quite taken aback by the quality, although I loved the color. The second color I had is a deep violet shade which is travel-friendly and is another amazing nail color. I hated the fact that the earlier shade I used had such bad color payoff and thus decided to do something about this one. I did little different to make the color work out as it would be a waste to see it go waste. Well, let's have a look and see how the new technique has worked for me.

My Experience With Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Neon Nail Color Vibrant Violet:

Packaging and Applicator: The product comes in a rectangular thick-walled bottle with the applicator. The bottle has every information written on it and overall it is travel-friendly. The applicator is a flat brush. It has a curved shape at its tip and the flat profile which flattens out more when you apply more pressure. Therefore, you can get the color on the nails in a single stroke by varying the pressure needed depending on the nail size. I really like this kind of applicator.
Shade: The shade 'Vibrant Violet' is true to its name. It is a deep neon kind of violet that compliments my warm skin enormously. The color has a very rich and sophisticated feel to it and would look great on any skin tone. You can wear the color alone or apply a glitter or sequin top coat as well for events.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is as disappointing as the previous one. Well, the new technique is that I applied a nice coat of white nail color underneath. The white color underneath helped the violet color to pop up better and gave an opaque pigmentation. Nevertheless, the color takes 3-4 coats on top of white coat to go opaque and neat. I really wish Sally Hansen would make some better neon colored nail polish in the near future.
Texture and Finish: The texture of the nail polish is certainly very runny and that is why you need so many top coats. The color will sheer out in the first two coats and thus you have to wait for one layer to dry up and then go for another one. So I would say that the nail polish application is extremely time-consuming. Coming to the finish of the color, you very well see that the finish is somewhat between matte and glossy. Thus, you have to use either a gloss or matte top coat to make it work out on the nails. Overall, the nail polish takes forever to dry and consumes a lot of time.

Staying Power: The staying power is good. It lasts on my nails for around 5 days and then starts to chip from the corner as there are so many layers. If I apply a matte top coat or a glossy coat, then the nail polish lasts for about a week which is pretty good in my opinion. The removal is slightly tough as there are so many layers to swipe. Nevertheless, the color will not stain the nails when worn alone as well.

Pros Of Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Neon Nail Color Vibrant Violet:
  • Nice travel-friendly packaging.
  • Flat profile applicator for precise application.
  • The shade 'Vibrant Violet' is a deep neon kind of violet.
  • It compliments every skin tone pretty well.
  • Color pops up under the white base.
  • Staying power is around 5 days.
  • No staining on nails.

Cons Of Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Neon Nail Color Vibrant Violet:
  • Poor pigmentation and you need 4 layers no matter what.
  • Runny texture.
  • Weird finish (neither glossy nor matte).
  • Takes forever to dry.
  • Not worth the price.

Diva Likes Rating:

2.5/5

Final Note:

This color is also a disappointment but at least you can make it work slightly under the white base. However, I wouldn't recommend it all. There are better neon colors in the market.

  1. The color looked much better when seen in the packaging but isn't that great on the nails.
