Today, Bangalore is the technology hub of India. It is true that once known as the pensioner's paradise, this beautiful city has undergone massive changes over the last decade or so and has transformed itself into a cosmopolitan city, in the true sense of the word. But don't be fooled by the IT buildings in pretty much every known area of the city. The garden city of India still has a lot to offer to the travellers, or to anyone who wishes to explore the other facets of the city, right from historical places to tummy filling authentic South Indian delicacy. So without much ado, let's take a virtual trip around this beautiful software city and relax at its ten unique hotspots.


1. Bannerghatta National Park

If you are intrigued by wild animals roaming around in the open, Bannerghatta National Park is a must visit. It is one of the best zoos in South India and its wildlife safari is one-of-a-kind. You will be taken inside the biological forest reserve in a grilled van and you will get the opportunity to see the royal Bengal tiger, white tiger, lions, bears, nilgai, bison, deers, and elephants roaming the forest without any bars. The majestic walk of the tigers, or the lion couples basking in the sun is one sight you would not want to miss when you are here. Once done with your safari, you can take a tour of the zoo, the butterfly park, and the huge aquarium.


2. Nandi Hills

If you are an adventure enthusiast, a trek in Nandi Hills will satiate your excitement, while in Bangalore. This hill fortress in Chikballapur is about 1500 meters above sea level and is within close driving range from Bangalore city centre. It is best to go there 4:30 AM and trek to the summit by 5:30 AM in order to witness the marvellous sunrise. For those who just want to enjoy the beauty of nature without the troubles of climbing can take the road that leads straight up to the summit in a car. The view from the top is breath-taking, especially when it is foggy at the early hours of the day.


3. Skandagiri

The tour of Nandi Hills is not complete without a visit to another awesome hill close by. Skandagiri is a few kilometres away from Nandi Hills and offers the same kind of relief to the adventurous souls. It is 1350 meters above sea level and is a great place for trekking. It has almost one-fourth of the crowd in Nandi hills and is very peaceful at any hour of the day. It houses the Papagni mutt, a rare place of worship in Karnataka. It is believed that devotees who come to pray inside the mutt can clearly feel positive vibrations within. Skandagiri is a must see for the wild ones as well as the worshippers.


4. Lal Bagh

After our tour of the outskirts of the city, let's move to the city interiors and take a trip to one of the largest gardens of in South India – Lal Bagh. Commissioned by Hyder Ali, this massive botanical garden, spread over 240-acre, was completed by the Great Tipu Sultan of Mysore. This place is known to house the largest collection of tropical plants in the whole of India and it hosts one of the best flower shows of the country every year. Tourists from all over the country, as well as the world, come to visit the flower show at Lal Bagh Botanical Garden. Locals often come here for morning jogs and to breathe in some fresh air.


5. Cubbon Park

There is a reason why Bangalore is known as the Garden City of India! Yes, Bangalore is full of beautiful gardens and Cubbon Park requires a special mention, as far as gardens are concerned. It is referred to as the lung area of Bangalore and covers over 100 acres. This park has undergone several name changes, based on the ruler or commissioners who looked after its administration, but Cubbon Park seems to have stuck on. This place houses hundreds of exotic plant species and has thousands of trees. In and around the park are buildings and statues of eminent personalities of Karnataka, that are visited by tourists, as well as locals.


6. Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace

If you are in the Market Area of Bangalore, often referred to as the old Bangalore, you would begin to miss the IT Houses. But this part of the city is rich in history and its evidence lies in the Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan, the greatest king of Mysore. A tour around the palace will amuse the historian in you with a museum on the ground floor of the palace. This palace is not as massive as the Mysore palace, but nevertheless a beautiful architecture to behold.


7. ISKCON Temple

Built on the Hare Krishna Hill in Rajajinagar, this temple has a gold-plated Dwajastambha or flag post, and a gold plated gold plated Kailash Shikar at its apex. It is a huge temple complex and houses six important shrines. It hosts festivals throughout the year and it's quite a glorious affair. 8. Wonder La Amusement Park

Located in Kengeri, a little away from the cacophony of the city, lies a place where adults can go back to being kids and kids can enjoy to the fullest. Wonder la Amusement park is for all. It is one of the most popular places in the whole of Karnataka and a great weekend getaway for the whole family. It has some crazy rides that can bring out the seven-year-old in a seventy-year-old grandfather. Spread over 82 acres of area, this place has over 50 land and water rides and has very high-quality safety controls. It also has a resort to stay for the night and several restaurants sprawled across for a quick bite.


9. MG Road

If you wish to experience the true cosmopolitan spirit of Bangalore, an evening in the city's most happening area is a must. Relax at Pecos, the oldest pub in MG Road or shop at Mota Royal Arcade, or eat at Shangrila. MG Road has something to offer to everyone from every age, race, community, and culture.
