The fall of 2016 saw the emergence of bold colors and honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed this phase. There was a time I dreaded wearing dark, bold or gothic shades and now, I am so addicted to them that I prefer wearing them all the time. Nykaa So Matte collection was really good and so I picked this natural MLBB color for college. Their launch of Fall Winter Lipstick collection includes various deep reds, wine, and plum colors but the particular shade that caught my attention was Hot Shot Espresso. My Experience With Nykaa So Matte Fall Winter Lipstick Hot Shot Espresso 19M:

Packaging: The packaging of Nykaa So Matte Fall Winter Lipsticks are classy and detailed. It comes in a cardboard board with every necessary information written on it. The body of the lipstick is rectangular matte black with the beautiful magnetic lock system. It simply has the brand name inked in silver while the shade name is written below. The twist up packaging is smooth and easy and I found the packaging really good, considering the price tag. It is compact, lightweight, fuss free and travel-friendly.

Shade: The shade Hot Shot Espresso is a true warm brown color with burnt orange undertones. The color is a perfect touch between subtle and bold. I have worn this with an opaque finish as well as a tint and either way, it looks beautiful. It will suit every Indian skin tone, ranging from fair to deep and such stunning shade surely deserves an applaud. The color, despite being deep and brownish, won't make you look very mature at all. Such color isn't found in the affordable range and the closest dupes I found for this color are Bite Beauty Cognac, Charlotte Tilbury Birkin Brown and L'Oreal Color Riche 839 Cinnamon Toast. The color has the tendency to look slightly different in various lightings, so I added the necessary swatches for reference below.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation of the lipstick is really good. With a single swipe, you get most of the coverage and the second layer ensures the complete opaque look. It doesn't require a lip pencil to make it work, although if you want the perfect lining, you can use a lip liner for enhancement.
Texture: The texture of the lipstick is slightly contradictory to its name. It is more of a satin matte or thick creamy texture than a 'so matte' kind of lipstick. The lipstick is creamy and smooth which glides on the lips like a dream. There is a soft caramel sweet smell which I really love. If you have dry lips, fret not, because the lipstick is extremely hydrating and will not require a lip balm underneath. However, for neat look do exfoliate and hydrate the lips. Its high-pigment formula is infused with vitamin E, castor oil, and beeswax which helps to nourish and moisturize the lips. However, it doesn't feel heavy or waxy. Overall, the formula resembles a satin lipstick.

Formula: The formula, being creamy, transfers slightly on to the cups and spoons. However, it doesn't bleed or feather on the lips at all. If you want that perfect matte look, blot a tissue on the lips or pat translucent powder to make the lips ultra-matte. The formula of the lipstick is also cruelty-free.
Staying Power: The lipstick has a very good staying power. It lasts on my lips for 4-5 hours with little food and fluid intake. When I wear it matte with the translucent powder on top, it lasts even more. The price tag, I feel, is justified for the quality it delivers.
