My Experience With Elle 18 Color Pops Matte Lipstick Pink Kiss:
Packaging: The packaging is the quintessential Elle 18 lipstick with the black bullet-shaped body and a plastic cap. It has the animated girl (with a little change) printed on the cap and gives a very chic look to it. The lipstick has a lightweight packaging and is easy to carry but avert from dropping it too much as it may be cracked. The twist up function works pretty well (better than the previous Elle 18 lipsticks I own). Overall, I found the packaging sweet and perfect for college goers.
Shade: The shade 'Pink Kiss' is a beautiful true pink color with a hint of mauve that gives a well-defined look to the lips. The color is devoid of shimmer which is a great thing if you ask me. The color isn't very bold or too muted – but a proper balance of both. Therefore, you can pair it up as you wish. It will be slightly noticeable for fair skin tones while for deeper ones, it may look like a mauve-pink one. When I am going out for a movie or shopping, I prefer to layer it up nicely to brighten up the face and for college I prefer to wear it muted. All in all, I have never seen such a pretty pink and surely I am in love with it.
Pigmentation: I have always hated low and average pigmentation and that is why I always stayed clear of Elle 18 lip colors as they were glossy and less pigmented. However, this one is an exception. It is very nicely pigmented and gives a proper saturation of color when applied on the lips. You just require a second swipe for evenness and it will successfully hide all the pigmentation on the lips. I love the amazing pigmentation every time I swipe it.
Texture: The texture of the lipsticks is satin smooth although they call it 'matte'. The velvet texture reminds me of the 'Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick' which has the similar satin smooth texture. It glides on the lip like butter and has a beautiful smell which fades off after application. You don't need a lip liner underneath as the color doesn't bleed at all. There is a sheen to it but overall, the texture is pretty good. It will not dry out the lips and still make a statement of matte lipstick, which is commendable.
Formula and Finish: The formula is creamy matte and hence it doesn't transfer a bit. You can prevent it by dabbing loose powder or compact on top. It neither feathers nor bleeds on the lips with the passage of time and gives a very comfortable finish. There is no gloss look but has a soft matte touch.
Staying Power: The staying power of the lipstick is around 4-5 hours and it does survive drinks. However, after lunch you will see the color fading without getting patchy or uneven and therefore, you would definitely need a touch up after a heavy meal. For a matte lipstick with a price tag of 100 bucks, this is surely one of the best things in the Indian market right now.
