1. She did not complete her graduation.
Yes, you heard that right. However, she got enrolled in Indira Gandhi Open University for completing her Bachelor in Sociology but by then she had already started her career in modeling. She got so caught up in modeling assignments that she had to quit her studies.
2. She has played basketball tournaments at the state level.
Most of us already know that Deepika had played badminton at the national level and always wanted to be a badminton player but very few of us know that she has been excellent basketball player too. Her height of 5'9 has been added advantage.
3. She has worked as a freelance writer.
How many talents does she possess already? She is a great actor, a great player, supermodel and also has fairly good writing skills. She had written articles with TOI on lifestyle several times as a freelance writer.
4. She first appeared on television in a commercial for Liril soap.
Deepika has taken several modeling assignments before making debut in Bollywood. One of which was a TV commercial for Liril soap in 2004. Many of us already know about her relationship with actor Ranbir Kapoor and Siddharth Mallya but before her Bollywood debut, she was in a live-in relationship with model Nihar Pandya. Both were to be cast in a movie together but that never happened and eventually, she dumped him after her gaining success in Bollywood.
7. Her first assignment in Bollywood was a video song with Himesh Reshammiya.
She was cast to do a video song "Naam Hai Tera" with Himesh Reshammiya. No matter how much we dread Himesh Reshammiya's video songs, Deepika's fans should personally thank him for this one. Apparently star director Farah Khan noticed Deepika in that song and decided to cast her in her next film.
8. Her debut film was supposed to be "Saawariya" and not "Om Shanti Om".
Now that's a real shocker, right? It would have been totally disastrous for her career seeing the huge success of "Om Shanti Om" over "Saawariya". She had given audition for Saawariya but could not make it as they had already signed Sonam Kapoor for the film. Luckily she got an offer from Farah Khan for Om Shanti Om and the two films released on the same date with Om Shanti Om crushing Saawariya badly.
9. She is socially active and adopted a village for its betterment.
Deepika Padukone has always been actively associated in social works and has adopted Ambegaon, a village in Maharashtra to improve electricity and water related condition of the village.
