I have dry curly hair and I am always in search of good and hydrating shampoo. Mostly I juggle between Dove Dryness Care, Tresemme Keratin Smooth and Sunsilk Natural Recharge which work perfectly for my hair. Having receive the L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner in my haul, I was keen to give L'Oreal another chance. This is because my tryst with L'Oreal was disastrous, leading to dry hair and extreme hair fall. However, this one promises to nourish and enrich the tresses which sounds pretty good to me. My Experience With L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner:

L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo:

The shampoo comes in a rather skinny bottle which is opaque and has a vibrant orange wrapping to it. The flip open cap is tight and sturdy. I feel they are extremely convenient to travel with. I loved the overall look of the packaging and its efficiency as well. This is highly recommended while travelling due to its light weight. The shampoo is off white is color and has a slightly runny consistency, equivalent to most of the shampoo's in the market. The smell is artificial, refreshing and surely a fine one for the nasal senses. It isn't very overbearing or nauseated but has the beautiful whiff to it. Sadly, it fades off after 2-3 hours of the wash.

The shampoo lathers very well. In the first wash, if your hair is too oil-laden (I use castor oil and coconut oil concoction), you have to spread and massage the shampoo well to your dampen hair. It won't lather in the first wash but from the second wash, it lathers very well. If your hair is thick, I believe you need 3 washes to wash off all the oil and grime from the hair. It does cleanse the hair well which is very important because the pollution and oiliness aren't easy to handle. This is a kind of shampoo which washes off rather easily and hence you won't have to work much on rinsing.
The efficacy of the shampoo is good. It does smoothens out the hair and makes it somewhat bouncy. The hair feels slightly soft after the wash. Now, the presence of SLS in a nourishing shampoo is slightly contradicting and this is the exact reason this particular variant isn't going to work impressively on dry, damaged or curly hair (curly hair always need heavy duty moisturizing shampoo). The upper portion of my hair is well smoothened but the drier or lower portion remains dry and actually this shampoo does nothing extraordinary in that department.
This shampoo always need a good conditioner as well as leave-in-serum for afterwards to have that extra softness. It doesn't contribute much to other hair problems like hair fall, dandruff etc. but does no extra damage as well.

L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Smoothing Conditioner:

The conditioner comes in a sturdy plastic bottle, with similar packaging of flip open cap. Both the bottles are extremely convenient to carry while travelling and light weight too. The conditioner is also off white in color and has very enriching and opulent smell of oil concoction. It is very beautiful for a whiff and it stays for some time after the wash. The conditioner is thick and requires a little amount than usual. It looks very enhanced and nourished for the hair.

The conditioner is well spread on the hair and I generally keep it for around 3-4 minutes. However, it needs to be washed with a little bit effort and detangles the hair well. It gives a soft and nourished feel to the hair. Its nourishing touch isn't very enriching for the damaged tresses in the lower portion of my hair but it is sufficiently hydrated. I further use a serum to bring a nice shine and gloss.

Pros Of L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner:
  • Both the products has very nice, efficient and sturdy packaging.
  • The shampoo has a slightly runny consistency while the conditioner is thick in texture.
  • Both the products have a very captivating smell.
  • Lathers well and easy to wash off.
  • Smoothens the tresses and cleanses the scalp.
  • The conditioner is good and detangles the hair well.
  • Suitable for normal to slightly dry hair.
  • Gives a bounce to the hair.

Cons Of L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner:
  • Not a very enriching shampoo for dry and damaged hair.
  • It has SLS.
  • The shampoo has to be used with a conditioner and serum.
  • Conditioner takes time to rinse off.
  • Does nothing for hair fall or hair damage.

Diva Likes Rating:

3.5/5

Final Note:

The combo is a good one for normal to slightly dry hair but those who are looking for extra nourishing and smoothening shampoo, I believe this isn't one. Otherwise, it is a decent one for the summers.
