Indian women are known for their beauty all over the world. But her beauty is incomplete without the beauty of eyes. When it comes to eyes, keeping it healthy does half of the job. But makeup also plays a crucial role. When it comes to eye makeup, the first thing that has been used since ages for beautiful eyes is Kajal. I remember when I was a kid, my mother used to make homemade Kajal and I used to cry so much when she applied it to my eyes. When I started using makeup, the first thing that I used as a makeup is Kajal. I love defining my eyes with rich black Kajal. As I don't use eyeshadows, this is the only makeup item which makes my eyes look beautiful. Kajal also has some other benefits apart from beautifying the eyes. It keeps our eyes cool and helps improve vision also. In my latest Patanjali haul, I purchased a Kajal from this brand. I got the Patanjali Herbal Kajal which I am going to review today. So let's head to the review to know how this Kajal fared with me.

About Patanjali Herbal Kajal:

A safe and unique ointment formulation. Its special combination of precious herbs, vegetable oils & waxes helps maintaining & improving vision.

Price:

90 INR for 3 g

Shelf Life:

24 months

Ingredients List:

Each 1 g contains (extracts of) Castor oil 300 mg, Almond oil 20 mg, Amla 0.1 mg, Harad 0.1 mg, Baheda 0.1 mg, Yashti Madhu 0.1 mg, Rasaut 0.1 mg.

Directions For Use:

Apply gently between eyelids. In the case of irritation remove safely with cotton and discontinue its use.

My Experience With Patanjali Herbal Kajal:

Packaging: The Kajal is housed in a regular twist up bullet with a transparent cap. The cap is tight but seems a bit flimsy and breakable to me. The packaging is not over the top attractive but simple. The retractable mechanism works smoothly. The Kajal cannot be sharpened so getting thin lines becomes tough once the tip gets blunt. But given its price tag, the packaging is pretty good for a budget friendly Kajal.
Texture & Smell: The texture is smooth and glides easily without any tug or pull. On upper lash line, it feels a bit dry though. It smells completely of Kajal made in the home. It has a predominant camphor smell.

Pigmentation: I like my Kajal to be jet black, but this is not jet black. It's a subtle black with a glossy finish though the pigmentation is buildable. On my watery eyes, it does not show up in a single swipe. A good 2-3 swipes is needed for the desired pigmentation. The best part is that it cools the eyes. I love using it after a tiring session in front of the laptops as it soothes the eyes.

Staying Power: I am not so happy with its staying power. It stays for about 2 hours on my waterline and then starts fading. If I try to apply it as an eyeliner on my upper lash line, it smudges. This makes it a good base for smokey eyes as the smooth texture makes it easy to blend.

Pros Of Patanjali Herbal Kajal:
  • Full of magical ingredients.
  • Cools and soothes the eyes.
  • Smooth texture.
  • Can be used as a base for smokey eyes.
  • Affordable price.

Cons Of Patanjali Herbal Kajal:
  • The bullet cannot be sharpened once the tip of the Kajal becomes blunt.
  • 2-3 swipes are needed for the Kajal to show up.
  • It starts fading after 2 hours.
  • It cannot be used on upper lash line.

Diva Likes Rating:

2.5/5

Final Note:

Finally, I would conclude that Patanjali Herbal Kajal is an affordable Kajal which is made with ingredients that can work wonders to your eyes. It soothes and calms the eyes without any stinging or irritation. But, on the other hand, it's not so pigmented. It does not show up in a single swipe. The biggest con is that it does not have a good staying power. Within 2 hours of application, it starts fading. I use this Kajal every night before sleeping because it relaxes eyes, but I cannot wear it and go out because it smudges and completely disappears within 2 hours. If you are looking for an herbal product that will relax and soothe the eyes, you cannot find something better than this. But to be used as a perfect daily Kajal, it does not work well.
