Anyone who is or has been a smoker will tell you that it is a habit that is hard to break. Cigarettes are packed full of nicotine, which means that you'll experience cravings and withdrawal symptoms if you stop smoking. That said cigarettes are also filled with dangerous chemicals and tar, which put you at risk of illness and disease if you carry on smoking! So, if you're a smoker that wants to kick the habit, what could you be doing to make your life easier?

1. Use E-Cigarettes

In the grand scheme of things, e-cigarettes are quite a new addition to the industry, but they are highly effective. These electronic cigarettes contain nicotine which means that you still get your hit and therefore don't miss smoking as much. However, they are free from the other nasty chemicals that traditional cigarettes have, so you can smoke risk-free. What is even better is that you can get the e liquid for these in a whole range of flavors, which can make them even nicer to use.

2. Keep Track Of Your Savings

There is no getting away from the fact that smoking is expensive. By giving this nasty habit you're going to save yourself a lot of money, don't get it go to waste. Make sure you put all the money you would usually spend on cigarettes to one side. As you start to see this amount growing and thinking about what you could spend the money on, you'll see your motivation rising.

3. Medication From Your Doctor

If you speak to your doctor about giving up smoking, they should be able to recommend a number of methods for you. As well as coming away with handy hints and tips they might decide to give you medication to help. This medication will sometimes make you feel sick if you do decide to smoke and it is thought that this will be enough to put you off smoking. They might also give you patches that are placed on your body and give you nicotine through the skin. This helps you to deal with the cravings you would usually experience when you give up smoking.

4. Support Groups

Giving up smoking is not going to be easy, but it can be better to know you are not alone. If you have friends or family that want to give up then why not give up together? By swapping hints and tips and speaking about how you are feeling, you'll find it easier to give up. If you speak to your doctor then the chances are that he will be able to recommend support groups for you to attend too!

So there you have it. No one would suggest that giving up smoking is a task that is easy, but there are ways to make it a little bit easier. Remember that these work in different ways for different people, so if one method doesn't work for you swap to something else.
