Sorrel spinach chutney is a tangy and tasty chutney. This is made often in my grandmom's place and I loved it due to its tangy taste. This is like a combination of sorrel leaves and spinach leaves with the look of spinach and the taste of sorrel leaves. If you love tangy chutney's then this one will surely make you an addict. Try it out and do share your feedback.

Ingredients:
  • Sorrel Spinach leaves / Chukkakura - 3 bunches
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin seeds - 2 teaspoons
  • Urad dal - 2 teaspoons
  • Chana dal - 2 teaspoons
  • Green Chillies - 6(increase/decrease as per taste)
  • Salt - As per taste

Preparation:

Take a pan to heat and add tablespoon of oil to it. Add a teaspoon of cumin seeds, urad dal and chana dal each. Also add green chillies. Fry for 2-3 mins.

Boil sorrel spinach(chukkakura) leaves and add them to the pan.

Fry for 10 mins and then remove from heat.

Blend it in a blender to form chutney by adding salt.

Fry the cumin seeds, urad dal and chana dal along with curry leaves in oil and season the chutney with it. The chutney is now ready to be served.

  4. Spinach has always been my all time fav. Its also not very expensive over here, thus I buy and cooked them very often. I like the combo of ingredients, the two variety of dal increased the flavors further more.
