Wheat Flour Halwa is a traditional Rajasthani sweet which is made for any religious and festive occasion. This is considered as a healthy dessert for growing children as it made with wheat flour and ghee. Normally no nuts are included in this recipe traditionally but I have included it to make it more richer and healthier.

Ingredients:
  • Ghee - Half cup
  • Whole Wheat Flour - Three-Fourth cup
  • Water - One and half cups
  • Sugar - Three-Fourth cup
  • Nuts - 1 teaspoon (chopped almonds or cashews)

Preparation:

In a heavy bottomed pan, heat the ghee on medium flame until it melts. Once the ghee melts and you get the golden colored liquid, put in the flour and roast on low heat until the wheat flour acquires a golden brown color and a nutty flavour and also till raw smell of the flour goes off.

This should take about 8-10 minutes. Once the wheat flour acquires that nice brown color after cooking, pour in the hot water into the toasted wheat, carefully avoiding any splatter and constantly string to avoid lumps.

Then add the sugar and cook till they leave the pan without sticking to the pan. Stir in the nuts and mix well.

Mix well and serve warm or at room temperature.
