We had a fun-filled summer this year and are looking forward to enjoying the fall. We moved to a new city and a new home which was an exciting and exhausting process. One thing we did not miss having is the barbeque party which we host for our family and friends every year. A week before the party, I tried to create Grilled Chicken Drumsticks recipe so that I get the flavors and taste right on the day of the party! The recipe was simple and tasted great. Like always I paired it with our favorite wines from CK Mondavi and Family. Check out more details below!

Grilled Chicken Drumsticks

  • Chicken Drumsticks - 6
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Yogurt - 1 tablespoon
  • Pepper powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cardamom powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cloves, Bay leaves, Peppercorns mixture - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chilies - 8
  • Onions - 1 (large, finely chopped)
  • Curry leaves - 7
  • Salt - As needed
  • Cooking Oil - As needed for spraying

Start with preparing the mix for marinating the chicken drumsticks. Take a bowl and mix the following ingredients to prepare the marinade - turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, lime juice, oil, red chili powder, yogurt, pepper powder, cumin powder, cardamom powder, cloves, bay leaves and peppercorns mixture.

Apply this marinade to the chicken drumsticks evenly and allow it to rest for 4-5 hours. You can refrigerate it overnight as well.

Prepare the grill by lightly oiling the grill grate and heating it.

Place the chicken drumsticks side by side on the grill and cook on each side for 15-20 minutes. Flip over and cook for the same amount of time so that it is cooked evenly all over. The grilling time may vary depending on the size of the drumstick, so make sure you are checking it regularly to avoid burning.

Once done, transfer the chicken to a plate and let it cool.

Take a pan on to the stove, add oil and heat it. Then add the finely sliced onions, red chilies and fry for 5-10 mins till it turns golden brown. Add salt and coriander leaves as needed. Then add the chicken pieces and mix well.

Grilled Chicken Drumsticks are now ready to serve.
