Fair & Lovely has been around for a long time in the Indian market. One of their signature product was the fairness cream, which always claimed to provide you with fair skin and failed miserably. The obsession of fair skin is quite misleading among various women as instead of achieving healthy and blemish free skin, most want to brighten their complexion. BB creams are quite raved about for every brand as it serves various purposes and aims to have a clear skin without the heaviness of foundation or concealer. Today I am here to review the Fair & Lovely BB cream which is budget friendly and easily available in the market. Let's see how the product fared with me.

My Experience With Fair & Lovely BB Cream:

Fair & Lovely BB cream comes wrapped in a simple cardboard box with necessary details written on it. The tube is sturdy yet light weight, comes in various sizes and hence easy to carry for travel purposes. The packaging is decent and nice. The cream is beige colored which would suit fair to medium complexion people with beige to pink undertones. The shade won't suit the deep complexion at all and would end up looking ashy and uneven. The consistency of the cream is medium, which is very similar to regular day moisturizer. It has an amazing sweet aroma which I am very fond of. The scent is mild yet very pleasing to the senses.

Once you apply the cream, it takes a while to blend into your skin. It is better to use your fingers rather than a damp sponge or brush. While blending, I found it to be a little sticky and has an uncomfortable rubbery feeling which I dislike. Once set in, it settles down to a nice matte finish. If you have dry skin or fine lines, I would suggest you to avoid this cream as it has the tendency to settle down and accentuate fine lines.

Speaking of the claims, it promises a lot for the skin. Firstly, the claim of fair look is deceiving as on deeper complexion it looks ashy and uneven. It will only work if you have fair complexions with a blemish free skin. Then again, if the skin is already perfect, why would you need this? Secondly, it claims to provide coverage of dark spots and blemishes, which is again a failure. It merely gives a whitened and brightened look that settles down with a smooth matte finish, but it never covered my blemishes or acne marks. Thirdly, it doesn't provide any even skin tone at all. The SPF 15 is useless as in Indian tropical climate you need a minimum of SPF 30 to protect the skin and hence you would require a good sunscreen underneath. The only claim of matte and non-oily feel works for this cream. It effectively provides the skin with the matte look and keeps it oil free for around 3 hours and a little extra when you apply a powder to set it.

Pros Of Fair & Lovely BB Cream:
  • Nice, sturdy yet lightweight packaging.
  • Gives a glow to the skin.
  • Comes with SPF.
  • Gives a matte finish.
  • Keeps the skin oil free for 3 hours.
  • Budget friendly.

Cons Of Fair & Lovely BB Cream:
  • Sticky while blending.
  • Only one shade won't cater the need of various complexions.
  • Too many false claims.
  • Not for sensitive skin.

Diva Likes Rating:

2.5/5

Final Note:

The cream would only work for fair to medium skin complexion without any blemishes. The only promise which is fulfilled is the claim of a matte look. There are better BB/CC creams available in the market than this. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend this product.
