The best option to have puri/chapathi is with boiled potato curry. This is quick and easy to make. You can prepare this as a side dish for these breakfast items. Also, if you are a beginner in cooking, this is something you should try preparing as it is simple.

Ingredients:
  • Potatoes - 4(medium)
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red Chilli powder - 2 tablespoons
  • Onions - 1(small,finely chopped)
  • Green Chillies - 4(finely chopped)
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Chana Dal - 1 teaspoon
  • Urad Dal - 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 teaspoon

Preparation:

Cut the potatoes into two halves and boil them in a bowl adding 2 cups of water.

Boil for about 15-20 mins. Check if they are boiled by inserting a knife in the potato. If the potato is soft, it means they are boiled completely. Remove the potatoes from water. Once they are cooled, peel off the outer layer and cut them into pieces.

Take a pan to heat and add oil to it. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chana dal and urad dal. Wait till they pop and add curry leaves, green chillies and onions. Fry for 5 mins and add turmeric powder, salt and ginger-garlic paste and mix well.

Now add the boiled potato pieces and mix. Add water and mix well. Cook for 5-10 mins till the gravy thickens. Then add red chilli powder and cook for another 5-10 mins.

Once the gravy thickens and comes close, remove the curry from heat and serve it hot.

Serving Options:

Serve this boiled potato curry with puri/chapathi and enjoy its real flavor.
