Lip balm is a daily essential for anyone out there. With winter approaching, I believe I have to carry a lip balm with me all the time. I received one cute little lip balm from Palmer's in my latest haul. For a long time, I wanted to try this particular lip balm and the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Jar. I am so glad to tick off this product from my wish list of skin care. Their range is extremely good and nourishing. Having tried the product, here are my thoughts on it.

My Experience With Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm SPF 15:

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm comes in cardboard packaging. The packaging is slightly unusual than regular lip balms. It comes in a twist up packaging with a thin oval shaped body. There is a little round circular rotator at the end of the tube to twist up the product. The cap is white opaque in color and it has necessary details written on it. The packaging is good and sturdy. Since the lip balm has a smaller structure, it is easier to carry around.

The first and foremost thing I loved about the lip balm is that it has a delicious cocoa butter smell. I mean, it is so delightful that I have to restrict myself from licking the lips every time I apply it. The smell isn't very artificial-like and overwhelming but is heavenly. The shape of the lip balm is such that thin lips would find it easier to apply than the regular round base. The stick has a thicker texture but the moment you apply, it feels lightweight and hydrating. There is no color whatsoever and thus if you love a clear lip balm, this is for you. Also, it helps to hydrate underneath matte lip colors. The lip balm imparts less shine than usual clear lip balms. If you look at the hand and lip swatches, you would see that the high-shine formula is missing.
Let's get to the most important part – hydration. Well, it is slightly disappointing in that department. The lip balm is more on the protecting side than healing. I was having dried up lips one day and I slathered a heavy layer of this lip balm to see if it works. Well, disappointingly it didn't. It merely hydrated the lips but the moment I exfoliated the lips, the dry portion was back. I did another attempt where I exfoliated the lips well and took off every layer of dryness. Then, as a further protection, I applied this lip balm and it did a nice job of protecting the lips from dryness.

Then I checked the ingredients. Honestly, I wasn't very happy to see 'mineral oil' as it does nothing than exaggerating the dryness. It will simply form a layer of greasiness and then the moment you take off, the dryness is back. Nevertheless, the lip balm also has various other good ingredients. It is formulated with SPF 15 for the lips which is a great thing. Also, when you apply the lip balm, you feel a slight tingling sensation, resembling a plumping product. I have seen that it gives a certain plump to the lips as well. (Don't expect a 'Kylie Lips' plump!). It also contains vitamin E which is good for the lips. Overall, the lip balm keeps my lips hydrated, soft and nourished for a good 5 hours and underneath a matte liquid lipstick, it lasts the whole day.

Final Note:

Honestly, I had such high expectations from this balm that it really made me sad after its average results. As a lip balm with SPF 15, it is good but there are already better lip balms available in the Indian market.
