Hello, everyone! Hope you all are taking every precaution to beat the heat. It is literally scorching outside. Well, coming back to beauty, the heat really makes the hair dull and lifeless especially if you have medium to long hair. I have been planning to grow out the length of the hair and I am seriously not planning to chop off in this summer. I received Spotlight Polish For Instant Shine from BBLUNT in my March FABBAG. I have already used one product from BBLUNT which I will review in the coming days but today it's time for the Instant Shine spray which I had been trying out for a few days. So, let's see if it is a hit or miss from my side.

My Experience With BBLUNT Spotlight Hair Polish for Instant Shine:

The product comes in a blue cylindrical bottle with a transparent plastic cap. It has the function of a spray nozzle, pretty similar to the ones we use as deodorants and it works pretty effectively. The bottle looks really funky and BBLUNT does a great job in packaging. It is extremely lightweight and travel-friendly so that you can literally carry around anywhere. Further, the spray comes in two sizes both of which are convenient.

The product is transparent is color and has a chemical laden smell to it. Unless you are totally fussy about the smell, you will be okay with that. As per the directions, I sprayed the product from mid-length to ends after my hair has been completely dried. I will elaborate the efficiency of the spray on various hairstyles – from poker straight to curly and wavy.
Firstly, the spray, by no means, shall work on wet, damp or even semi-damp hair. Your hair needs to be completely dry. Spray on the hair and let it be there for 5-8 seconds and then distribute it properly with your fingers. The spray worked best on poker straight hair when straightened, fares well on wavy hair and average on curly hair. Coming to the shine, you do get a shiny touch to the dull and rough ends. The shine stays for around 5-6 hours on me. However, do not expect a red carpet shiny hair sported by the celebrities. In fact, the shine isn't very spectacular when you are clicking pictures with your phone but it only shows up when you are using a DSLR.

The spray also claims to be a heat protectant but the very fact that I have to apply the spray after I style my hair makes the feature pretty useless. Although I see a lot of impressive ingredients, the presence of ethyl alcohol is very depressing. I believe this is the reason my hair felt slightly dry once the shine wears off. Also, I noticed it leaves a buildup of the spray on the hair and if you don't wash the hair within 2 days, it feels dirty. But I cannot complain much about that because it is the very nature of hair styling products. The price tag given to the product is pretty nice and reasonable.

Pros Of BBLUNT Spotlight Hair Polish for Instant Shine:
  • Nice packaging.
  • Transparent spray.
  • Mild fragrance.
  • Adds a shine to the hair.
  • The spray works best on poker straight hair when straightened, fares well on wavy hair and works averagely on curly hair.
  • The shine lasts for 5-6 hours.
  • The presence of provitamin B5, vitamin E and silk proteins.
  • Reasonable price tag.

Cons Of BBLUNT Spotlight Hair Polish for Instant Shine:
  • Lacks the gorgeous shine which I believe everyone expects.
  • The presence of Ethyl Alcohol makes the hair ends dry.
  • Leaves a bad buildup on hair.

Final Note:

The product gives you a nice shine (although not a major red-carpet sort of look if you are expecting that!) with a decent wear time of 5-6 hours along with a reasonable price tag. So, you can definitely buy if you desire that sheen touch. However, if you have totally dull and lifeless hair ends, better skip it.

  1. This works decently. But I feel that the shine effect doesn't last long.
