Hello, everyone. Hope you are enjoying the holidays. Off late, I got so obsessed with foundations that I am literally hunting them like a mad animal. Funny thing is, I hardly apply foundation, but all this madness has come from the shade selection which I still can't get right. Either it looks dull, too light, too white or anything other than what I want. This time, I choose the brand which makes around 200 shades! Yes, you read that right! And guess what? I still messed up while choosing the correct shade for myself. But the foundation has its own quality which I am going to discuss. So let's see how it fared with me.

Directions For Use:

Use a flat foundation brush for application and blend with a damp sponge.

My Experience With Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation FS 61:

The packaging is basic and slightly on the dull side. It has a cylindrical body with a twist up function. The foundation, which is in the form of a stick is quite thick. It comes with a screw cap to shut it close. There is also a faint smell of cosmetics, but it isn't too strong and won't hurt the nose until you actually try and inhale it. I am not very fond of the packaging, but it is decent enough to carry due to its light weight feature.
Coming to the shade, I choose FS 61 for my skin tone. Well, long story short – I didn't find my perfect match. The SA showed me a shade lighter, but I choose this one as it looked just like my skin color with a yellow tone. However, when I applied it before a function and after blending it – I realized the horror. The store lightings were deceptive and I ended up with a shade deeper than my skin tone.

The coverage of the foundation is something worth praising. It covers literally anything! From little scars to acne marks and even tattoos! I am sure you got the drift. If you have difficult skin, I am sure you will love this. The foundation is very versatile when it comes to coverage. You can apply it with fingers and blend with a damp sponge for a sheer to medium coverage and also apply it with a flat a foundation brush for heavy coverage. Except for blackish scars and marks, you won't require any concealer at all.
The texture is slightly tricky to work upon if you are a beginner. It is extremely thick and blending requires a lot of time and techniques. Firstly, always blend towards the growth of facial hair, i.e., downwards. Secondly, it requires to be worked with a little amount. You have to apply in a little area and blend. Also, it happens to highlight the dry areas if you don't apply a moisturizer. The foundation is heavy and blocks the pores which don't let the skin breathe. It also breaks me out when I wear it for long. I would advise the acne prone skin to stay away from this.

The foundation looks dewy on the oily skin after application and satin velvety on dry to combination skin. You need to set it with a powder especially oily skin otherwise, it will turn oily within hours. Once set with a powder, it looks neat. It photographs very well if you blend it properly. If not, the foundation will look cakey. For brides, this is the best foundation I would say. The staying power of this foundation is around 9-10 hours during winter on my oily skin. I only applied a layer of compact after 6-7 hours. I believe, the staying power will be slightly less during summer. It doesn't oxidize and is also water resistant.

Pros Of Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation FS 61:
  • Decent packaging.
  • Faint smell.
  • Wide range of shades.
  • From sheer to high - coverage is excellent.
  • Multipurpose – acts as foundation and concealer.
  • Doesn't look cakey if blended well.
  • Photographs very well.
  • Best suitable for normal to oily skin.
  • Can be set with powder for oily skin.
  • Staying power is excellent.
  • It doesn't oxidize and is also water resistant.
  • Worth the price.

Cons Of Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation FS 61:
  • Shades are slightly deceptive in different lights.
  • Requires practice for blending.
  • Accentuates dry areas.
  • Not for oily skin – breaks out very badly.
  • No SPF.
  • Not for regular use.

Diva Likes Rating:

3/5

Final Note:

The foundation is good but definitely not my cup of tea. It takes a lot of time in blending and moreover breaks me out. Unless you want a foundation with heavy coverage, you can skip this.
