Kofta's can be made with a variety of ingredients. Raw Banana kofta is a specialty of the Eastern states of India. This kofta recipe includes raw bananas and potatoes. Mashed potatoes give some binding strength to the mushy banana koftas. Banana kofta is a rich Indian snack with the deep fried potato and banana koftas. This is definitely not a low calorie health food but delicious and rich.


Ingredients:
    For Dumplings:
  • Raw Bananas - 2
  • Potato - 1(boiled and mashed)
  • Green Chillies - 2(chopped)
  • Red Chilli powder - Half teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - One-fourth teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - One-fourth teaspoon
  • Dry Mango powder - One-fourth teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons(chopped)
  • Salt - As per taste
  • For Batter:
  • Chickpea Flour/Besan - 1 cup
  • Red Chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - One-fourth teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - One-fourth teaspoon
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Oil - For deep frying

Preparation:

Boil the raw bananas along with the skin and then peel them off and mash them.


Add the mashed potatoes, all the dry spices and salt . Mix well till they combine.
Make the mixture into lemon sized ball and keep them a side.


To make the besan batter combine all the ingredients under "For batter".


Gradually add water to it to form a flowing consistency batter. It should neither be too thin nor too thick. It should coat on the kofta's.
Now one by one add the dumplings in to the batter and coat them. Use a spoon to coat them so that they are evenly coated.


Heat the oil in a frying pan. Now slide the kofta's in the hot oil for frying. Use a spoon to slide the kofta's so that they are uniform in shape.


Fry them till they turn golden brown and then drain them on a tissue. Serve them hot.


Serving Options:

Serve the Raw Banana Kofta's with tomato ketchup or green chutney. They can be served with onion and tomato gravy.
