- Groundnuts - 1 cup
- Coconut pieces- Few
- Fried gram dal- handful
- Tamarind - gooseberry size
- Green chillies - 5 / As per taste
- Salt - As per taste
- Oil - 2 teaspoons
- Curry leaves - Few
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Jeera - Half teaspoon
Roast the groundnuts on medium flame till black spots appear. Add green chillies and fry for half a minute(it gives a nice flavour to the chutney).
Switch off the flame and add some tamarind now as it softens due to the heat. Add fried gram dal, coconut pieces, and let them cool.
Grind the cooled ingredients with salt. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, jeera and curry leaves and prepare the seasoning.
Add the seasoning to the chutney and serve with your favorite breakfast item.
Groundnut chutney goes well with dosa, idli, upma and pesarattu. Specially white upma and groundnut chutney with a wedge of lemon is an excellent combo.
